Over 30 years ago, Ken Perry led the initiative to create the Good Shepherd Pantry at his long-time parish. Now known as the Ken Perry Food Pantry, we serve the 14214, 14215, and 14216 zip codes within the city of Buffalo. We are able to secure food through grants and receive the majority of our food from FeedMoreWNY. In 2022, our 8 volunteers distributed food to over 1,300 households which equates to over 38,000 meals.
We are open Every Wednesday from 10-2 distributing pre-packed bags of food as an emergency food pantry.
In 2011, the Rev. Deacon Lucinda “Pete” Dempesy-Sims of the former Episcopal Church of the Ascension founded our pantry. An animal lover, Pete saw the need to help feed the pets of those struggling to feed themselves. Pete was called home to God on November 9, 2017. We strive to carry on the work she started.
We offer dry cat and dog food at no charge. Occasionally we have canned food, special diet food, and other items depending on donations. Follow us on Facebook through the link above for updates.
Distribution day is the first Sunday of every month from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Jewett Hall on the Summit Avenue side of the Good Shepherd complex. Food is distributed with no ID or paperwork required to anyone 18 years or older.
Donations are gratefully accepted through the Good Shepherd PayPal account. Click here to donate and please indicate that you would like your donation to go to Pete’s Pet Food Pantry.
